Daniel Avery is set to release ‘Knowing We’ll Be Here’ taken from his outstanding Drone Logic album. It is coming out on Erol Alkans Phantasy Sound, 2nd of June, and comes backed with two brand new remixes, which have been causing quite a stir at YAMB. We heard the Kink Remix first and it certainly is something a little special. The track opens with a solid attack of euphoric bass and vocals, reminiscent of something you may expect from Kompakts The Field. The bass drops out leaving a vocal snippet and a floaty, chiming melody sneaks in. This creates a great atmospheric feel. Then it all drops back in giving us yet another solid banger from the master of the dance floor.
On the flip side we have ‘New Energy’ reanimated by Beyond the Wizards Sleeve. For those that don’t know this is the psychedelic side project of Phantasy Sound label head Erol Alkan and his cohort Richard Norris. The track creates their signature 60’s inspired sound using a combination of reverse tape delay and snappy drums to create a nice variation of the track, keeping the contrast of the original vocal line.
